Research Instruments GmbH Awarded Contract for Superconducting Accelerating Modules from Turkey

September 05, 2012

BERGISCH GLADBACH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 5, 2012-- RI Research Instruments GmbH (RI), a majority-owned subsidiary of Bruker Energy & Supercon Technologies, Inc. (BEST), today announced the award of a major contract by the Turkish Accelerator Center (TAC) valued at approximately $4.8 million USD. The contract covers two turnkey superconducting accelerating modules based on a design developed by Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf, including four European XFEL type accelerating cavities.

A primary goal of the TAC project is to establish the first accelerator based infrared free electron laser (FEL) light source facility in Turkey in order to improve access for Turkish scientists to advanced scientific research infrastructure at the Turkish Accelerator and Radiation Laboratory at Ankara (TARLA).

Dr. Michael Peiniger, Managing Director of RI Research Instruments GmbH, explained: "These superconducting accelerating modules will be based on our unique advanced technology. We expect that their delivery will support the start-up of the TAC facility in 2014 and will be the basis for a long-term partnership between RI and the Turkish accelerator community."
